Understanding Test Reporting with QARA Enterprise

Automation testing is the answer to the challenges faced by the QA teams today. In order to keep up with the demand for frequent updates on software applications on a regular basis, QA teams, along with development teams, need to apply Agile principles for development and testing. However, it is very important for the QA team to analyze the efficiency of the testing process, or test performance as it is also known as, in order to ensure only products with the highest quality standards are generated or developed.

The key metrics are the key measures of the performance of the test execution process. There are various parameters that the user needs to consider when measuring the performance of test case execution.

A new age test automation tool like QARA Enterprise offers a unique reporting capability to help QA professionals analyze test case parameters and measure the efficiency of the test case execution process. Here we shall look at the key metrics that form an essential part of test case performance through the reporting functionality of QARA Enterprise.

Test Case Reporting with QARA Enterprise

QARA Enterprise allows users to generate automated reports for detailed analysis of the test execution process. Once the test case is executed, a report is generated automatically and stored. This section focuses on the complete set of options available to the user when it comes to report generation. Discover how to generate automated reports and learn about the Report module. There is also a mention of the different types of reports generated by QARA Enterprise.

Automated Report Generation

After the test case is executed, the screen appears as shown below. It is a useful report that is generated automatically and opens in the default web browser of the system. The following information is displayed: folder name, runtime, start and end time, execution engine, browser, environment and status. Please see the other details below.

Report Module
Test case reports produced by QARA Enterprise allow users to monitor their status and better understand the test coverage of their project. Once a test case execution is completed, a report is automatically generated and stored in the Reports section.
Users can see the detailed analysis of the test case by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Log on to the Report generation URL provided.
The screenshot below will appear.

Step 2: Enter valid login credentials.
The Reports UI has been designed in a way that resembles the QARA Enterprise Homepage, with the list of projects in the left panel. By clicking on a project, you can view the test suites in that project and the test cases in each suite. Users can therefore view in-depth information which includes the following:

  • The number of test cases that failed or passed.
  • The number of steps in a specific test case that failed or passed.
  • The percentage of automation, i.e., the number of steps in a test case that were automated.
  • Other details, such as the name of the engineer that last run a specific test case and the time.
  • Clicking on the PDF icon allows user to download the Report.
  • Selecting a folder gives brief details about the test cases in the selected folder and selecting an individual test case displays details about the selected test case.
User can retrieve test case status data using application and module.
